How to Write Persuasion Letters

Advertisers most commonly use persuasive letters in order to convince potential customers to support their products or services. However, there are also other individuals or groups that write persuasive letters. For example, some organizations can utilize persuasive letters in order to increase their membership or charitable groups can send letters like these to encourage donors to assist them in their cause.

Whoever may be writing, the main goal of a persuasive letter is simply to convince the recipient to support the cause or take part in helping achieve the goal of the sender.

For persuasive letters to be effective, they have to, firstly, be able to capture the attention of the reader. This will determine whether or not your recipient will continue reading the letter. The manner in which to achieve this is to have a captivating introduction that immediately reels in the interest of the person reading.

Once you have the attention of your recipient, state your case in the clearest possible way. Be straightforward with what it is exactly that you can achieve and what benefits this can bring to your recipient. Most people react positively to hearing about what is in it for them so presenting reasons and perks is a good way to sway your reader’s opinion.

While you definitely don’t want to be short on reasons why your product, service, cause is the best, you also do not want it to drag on for three pages. This will just make you seem desperate and may lessen your credibility.

Make sure you achieve the perfect balance between stating your case, keeping your reader’s interested, and not seeming desperate.

Close your letter by reminding them of what you are offering them. This will ensure that they have your cause as the last thing on their mind, making them consider your pitch more.
